A Thrill Seekers Paradise – the Haunted Castle and Black Forest

The entrance to the Haunted Castle

I love October. It’s the sights and sounds, the caramel apples and bags full of candy, bright orange pumpkins and lighted jack-o-lanterns, and kids dressed as ghosts and goblins. Yes, October is one of my favorite times of year. It’s obvious I’m not the only one who shares this love of October. People flock to fall festivals and scary fall events, and for 32 years, thrill-seekers have ventured through the Haunted Castle for a good old-fashioned scare – oftentimes at the hands of the castle’s famous chainsaw-wielding frights!

This year the Haunted Castle is expected to offer new thrills and new twists to old favorites as well as some new features. How long does it take to get through the castle? What will you find beyond the next bend, in the next room? No one knows – until you dare to find out for yourself!

The Haunted Castle (along with the super maze and terrifying vortex of the Black Forest) opened Friday, September 30th and will be open through Halloween. Both attractions are open from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Thursdays and Sundays they are open from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The cost for each event ticket is $10 or a combo ticket can be purchased for $16. Bring one or more canned goods and receive $2 off the entrance price on Thursday and Sunday nights. Proceeds for the canned goods go to the St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry. Scout and military discounts are $7 each event or $12 for the combo ticket. Scout and military discounts are good anytime.

If you’re looking for a great way to spend a cool, fall evening with family or friends, the Haunted Castle and the Black Forest is a great place to enjoy a night of fun and frights during the Halloween season. The Haunted Castle and Black Forest are located just north of Fort Wayne, Indiana at the intersection of Wallen and Auburn Road.  Parking is located across the street at St. Vincent School.
